Bogotá.- Rodolfo Hernández, el polémico empresario y político que estuvo a punto de convertirse en presidente de Colombia en las elecciones de 2022, falleció hoy a los 79 años. Hernández, conocido por su estilo directo y su discurso anticorrupción, murió en su hogar en Bucaramanga, Santander, después de batallar contra un cáncer de colon diagnosticado a principios de este año.
Hernández, quien fue alcalde de Bucaramanga entre 2016 y 2019, se ganó un lugar en el panorama nacional con su imagen de «outsider» político y su rechazo a las prácticas tradicionales. Su campaña presidencial en 2022, marcada por un lenguaje simple y propuestas populistas, lo catapultó al centro de la atención mediática, llegando a la segunda vuelta, donde fue derrotado por el actual presidente Gustavo Petro.
